MARK "ELK" ELSASSER
Known to most as Elk, Mark Elsasser has been riding and racing mountain bikes for close to twenty years. Elk raced for Independent Fabrication in the early days of the company and returned to the IF racing fold in 2006. If you ask him about his dream bike, he will proudly show you his fully rigid IF Ti Deluxe Single Speed 29er, but those close to him know that he secretly longs for an IF Roadster single speed with a custom Stars and Stripes paint scheme.
Elk is one of IF Racing’s dedicated single speed racers. He holds an Expert mountain bike license and specializes in endurance and ultra endurance events. Elk’s career highlights include winning the Solo Single Speed category at the 2004 NORBA National 24 Hour Championships in Spokane, Washington and finishing as the top single speed at the 2003 Wilderness 101 in central Pennsylvania. His race resume also includes podium finishes at National Mountain Bike Series (NMBS) and American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC) events, as well as top placings at numerous local and regional races.
A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, Elk makes his home deep in the heart of South Philly. When not riding or racing, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Samantha, his beloved Boston Terrier, Mika, and his sweet but slightly dopey Great Dane, Loda.
